John Maybury's 'The Jacket' is a moody psychological thriller starring Adrien Brody as a Gulf War veteran with amnesia, wrongly committed to a mental institution where a doctor's brutal experimental treatment, strapping him in a straitjacket inside a morgue drawer, seemingly flings his mind into the future. There he meets a woman, played by Keira Knightley, and races to prevent his own death. Atmospheric and time-bending, it borrows from earlier mind-warp films. Uneven but intriguing, it drew mixed reviews and a small cult audience.
