This uneven thriller from director Alan J. Pakula pairs Harrison Ford as a New York cop who unknowingly shelters an IRA gunman, played by Brad Pitt, hiding out to buy weapons for the cause. The premise promises a taut moral collision between two good men on opposite sides, but a troubled production and rewrites left the drama muddled. Despite the star wattage, it earned mixed reviews, praised for its leads' commitment yet faulted for never quite deciding whose story it wanted to tell.
