Two lifelong best friends, played by Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds, envy each other's opposite lives — one stable and married, the other carefree and single — and wake up to find they've magically swapped bodies after a drunken wish at a fountain. David Dobkin's body-swap comedy pushes the genre's usual family-friendly formula into deliberately raunchier, R-rated territory. Reviews were mixed on its crude excess, but Bateman and Reynolds's committed physical comedy carried it to solid box office.
