Steven Soderbergh's twisty pharmaceutical thriller stars Rooney Mara as a woman battling severe depression whose new anti-anxiety medication triggers a violent, headline-making incident, drawing her psychiatrist, played by Jude Law, into a legal and moral quagmire alongside her imprisoned husband, Channing Tatum. What begins as a pointed satire of Big Pharma over-prescription pivots into a slippery neo-noir about manipulation and reinvented identity. Soderbergh, in what he then billed as his final theatrical feature, stages the reveal with cool, clinical precision, letting Mara's opacity carry a film that keeps recalibrating who the real villain is.
