Woody Allen's 'Scoop' is a light comic mystery starring Scarlett Johansson as a student journalist who, tipped off by the ghost of a dead reporter, investigates a charming aristocrat, played by Hugh Jackman, she suspects is a serial killer. Allen himself plays a bumbling magician who reluctantly assists. Slight and breezy, it lacks the bite of his best work and leans on old-fashioned banter. Amiable but minor, it's a trifle that pleased few critics, buoyed mostly by Johansson's game charm.
