When the Chinese consul's daughter is kidnapped in Los Angeles, Inspector Lee flies in from Hong Kong determined to rescue her, but the FBI, wanting no interference, assigns the loudmouth detective Carter to keep him away from the case. Forced to team up much against their will, the methodical, disciplined Lee and the impulsive, motormouthed Carter clash at every turn as they decide to investigate on their own. Amid cultural misunderstandings, martial arts and shootouts, the mismatched pair ends up cracking the plot. Brett Ratner's action comedy paired Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in a hit duo of contrasts, nimble, funny and spectacular.
