Told as a musical fantasy rather than a conventional biopic, this film traces Elton John's life from his childhood as a piano prodigy to his rise to the summit of rock. Through his own songs, dramatized as fantastical numbers, it portrays his decisive creative partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin, the explosion of fame, the excesses and the loneliness hidden behind the sparkle of the sequins. Taron Egerton transforms into the artist to paint a portrait as exuberant as it is painful. An overflowing spectacle about the price of talent and the long road to accepting oneself.
