'Odd Thomas', directed by Stephen Sommers and adapted from Dean Koontz's novel, is a supernatural mystery-comedy starring Anton Yelchin as a small-town fry cook who can see the dead and senses a looming massacre. Racing to stop a catastrophe with the help of his sweetheart (Addison Timlin), he chases ghostly clues and demonic bodachs. Tangled in legal disputes that hampered its release, it slipped out quietly. A likable, uneven genre mash-up buoyed by Yelchin's earnest charm.
