John Schlesinger's landmark drama follows a naive Texan hustler, played by Jon Voight, who arrives in New York dreaming of easy money and forms an unlikely, tender bond with Dustin Hoffman's ailing con man Ratso Rizzo. Gritty, compassionate, and stylistically bold, it remains the only X-rated film to win the Best Picture Oscar. A defining work of New Hollywood.
