An elite assassin, played by Ashton Kutcher, falls for a computer specialist, played by Katherine Heigl, on vacation and retires from killing to build a normal suburban life with her — until a contract from his past resurfaces and every neighbor on the block seems to be a hired killer. The film mixes domestic rom-com beats with sudden bursts of action, leaning on Kutcher and Heigl's star chemistry to sell an increasingly implausible premise. Critics were largely unkind to the tonal whiplash, though the film found a wider commercial audience than its reviews suggested. A glossy, disposable date-night thriller from the late-2000s star-vehicle era.
