Timothy Olyphant plays Agent 47, a genetically engineered assassin conditioned from birth to be a flawless killing machine for a shadowy organization, forced to go on the run and question his own origins after being set up on a botched hit. Loosely adapted from the video game franchise, the film emphasizes cold, stylized violence and globe-trotting intrigue over character depth. It received tepid reviews on release but has since been superseded by more faithful adaptations of the source material.
