Gary Johnson is a placid, somewhat gray university professor who works with the New Orleans police posing as a hitman in undercover operations to catch those looking to hire a murder. He turns out to be surprisingly good at inventing characters for each client, until one day he crosses paths with Madison, a woman seeking to be rid of her husband, and instead of arresting her decides to protect her, sparking a relationship as passionate as it is dangerous. Directed by Richard Linklater and very loosely inspired by a true case, it is a romantic comedy with thriller twists about identity and how far we can reinvent ourselves. A seductive game between fiction and desire.
