Hancock is a drunken, ill-tempered superhero who saves lives by smashing everything in his path, earning the scorn of a Los Angeles fed up with his wreckage. When he rescues Ray, an idealistic public relations man, the latter decides to return the favor by setting out to rehabilitate his disastrous public image. The plan takes an unexpected turn when secrets surface about Hancock's own origin and nature, deeper and more painful than anyone imagined. Peter Berg blends rowdy comedy with drama and superhero spectacle in a film that brazenly subverts the conventions of the genre.
