A teenage girl is magically shrunk down and swept into a hidden micro-world locked in an ancient war between forest-protecting good and decay-spreading evil, in this Blue Sky Studios fantasy loosely inspired by William Joyce's 'The Leaf Men'. Director Chris Wedge fills the tiny-scale battles with dense, kinetic action sequences and a starry voice cast including Beyoncé and Colin Farrell. Solidly reviewed if unremarkable, it offered a visually dense alternative to the era's more comedy-driven animated features.
