Crowe, drawing on his own teenage years touring with bands as a Rolling Stone writer, captures both the euphoria and heartbreak of music fandom with warmth rather than cynicism. Winning the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, it's widely regarded as one of the great films about music journalism and growing up.
