A taut, harrowing thriller directed by Yann Demange, following a young British soldier accidentally left behind during a chaotic riot in 1971 Belfast. Jack O'Connell gives a visceral performance as the terrified private trying to survive a single night amid warring factions in a city that has become a lethal maze. Tense, gritty and morally ambiguous, it was widely praised as a gripping debut feature and a bracing snapshot of the Troubles.
