Liu Kai-Chi

Liu Kai-chi, born in Hong Kong in 1954, was one of the local industry's most beloved character actors before his death in 2021. A regular in TVB dramas from the late 1970s, he built a second life in film with the kidnap thriller Beast Stalker (2008), which won him Best Supporting Actor at the Hong Kong Film Awards. He repeated the feat with Johnnie To's Life Without Principle (2011) as a small-time hustler swept into a financial storm. His face, weathered and warm at once, could carry an ordinary Hongkonger's dignity better than almost anyone of his generation.
