マリーはチェロに情熱を注ぎ、学校で才能を発揮するティーンエイジャー。ヴィクトルは優しく活発な少年だが、学業で困難を抱えている。マリーが視力を失いつつあることを知らずに、ヴィクトルは彼女に恋をする。そして、ヴィクトルにとって意外なことに、マリーは少しずつ彼を支え始める…。マリーがヴィクトルに秘密を打ち明けた時、二人の間には約束が交わされる。ヴィクトルはマリーの病状を隠し、音楽院の入学試験に合格できるよう手助けする。このありそうもない二人の間には、揺るぎない友情が芽生え、彼らは世間に立ち向かうためなら何でもする覚悟だった。
