Primo dei due film dedicati alla serie omonima, questo primo film ripercorre le vicende della serie. Akihito Kanbara, per metà umano e per metà yōmu, è invulnerabile alle ferite per la sua capacità di guarigione rapida. Un giorno s’imbatte nella studentessa del primo anno Mirai Kuriyama, mentre questa è in procinto di buttarsi giù dal tetto della scuola. La ragazza è tenuta a distanza dagli altri studenti a causa della propria abilità nel manipolare il sangue. A seguito del salvataggio di Mirai da parte di Akihito, gli eventi prendono una brutta piega.
