Emraan Hashmi carved out a singular niche in 2000s Bollywood: the morally grey antihero of musical thrillers, tagged by the press as the industry's 'serial kisser' for his run of steamy hits like 'Murder 2' (2011) and 'Awarapan' (2007). Born in Mumbai in 1979, he matured into weightier work with the gangster saga 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai' (2010) and drew his best reviews in 'The Dirty Picture' (2011) and the political thriller 'Shanghai' (2012). He later joined the YRF spy universe as the villain of 'Tiger 3' (2023). Wounded cynicism remains his defining screen note.
