Born in Perthshire, Scotland in 1947, Denis Lawson is best known outside the UK as Rebel pilot Wedge Antilles in the original Star Wars trilogy, starting with Star Wars: A New Hope (1977). At home he became a beloved presence with Bill Forsyth's Local Hero (1983) and later anchored the BBC medical series Bodies (2004-2006) and played inspector Steve Wallace in New Tricks (2012-2015).
