She trained through the Upright Citizens Brigade before landing the role of the not-quite-human assistant Janet in NBC's The Good Place (2016), an ensemble part that let her play multiple wildly different personas and earned her multiple Critics' Choice Awards. She has since led the ensemble of Amazon's baseball comedy A League of Their Own (2022) and appeared in Barry (2018) and the animated series Big Mouth (2017).
